AWAKENING the Greatness...

Every Church or Business has a Leadership Seat. The question is,

Is anyone in that seat?

Just because you are the leader of a team or organization doesnt mean that your in the Leadership Seat. So that’s why I recorded this vid.. hope it encourages and helps your team move forward!

(This Leadership Seat thought came from a focus group that I was in with my Pastor, Kevin Gerald. It was so good I just had to pass it along…)

Comments?

A question I ask myself and I hope you will as well… its a game changing kind of question.

Do I justify or Adjust?

Would love to hear your thoughts/comments.

First Class Relationships (accelerate you)

Relationships have the power to accelerate your life!

The other day I had the opportunity to travel with Pastor Kevin Gerald. He flew first class, while I flew coach. Normally as a coach passenger you wait in the longer security check line. But because I was traveling WITH Pastor kevin, I got to go to the front of the line with him.

That experience made me think how true that is in our every day lives. There are key relationships, mentors, leaders, pastors, a boss etc… or what I’m calling “First Class Relationships” that have the ability to Accelerate your life to a new level faster than you could on your own.

The Key: Look in your world and find who those First Class Relationships are and ask yourself “How can I add value to them?”

Why ask that question? Because I didn’t get to the front of the line just because I knew Pastor Kevin, but I got the front of the line because I was traveling WITH, and assisting him.

God has put these relationships in your life and if you learn to identify them and serve them, God will use them to ACCELERATE your life!

In Search of David… // A call to this generation!

Im looking for David!! Are you out there?  Can you hear me? Are you listening?
I hope so, because your needed, and your time is now. no more hiding from the call. David, its time to step out and into the call that God has for you.

Im wondering, if your ready to hear who you really are?
Im wondering if your ready to be who you really are?
I wonder if your ready to answer the call…..?
I wonder if your ready to step out of your strength and into God’s?

David, i wonder if your ready? Have you spent enough time in the sheep’s company for God to do what he needs to do in you? Are you ready and full of that God-confidence that only comes from spending time in His presence?

David…..are you out there? They need you.

The world around you is in fear and trapped by the enemy. the people around you has been deceived and trapped into smallness and little living….

Only one thing can free them, only one thing can set them free… guess what that is? guess who that is? (no its not you… Its God, but God wants to work through you!!)
The only hope for the world is the powerful working of the supernatural through the simple medium of humanity, Your humanity!

…. so are you ready?... Wait!, stop, dont try and put on the Armour of someone else, dont try and be what your not, dont try and fake it, dont try and live in the shadow of old thoughts and old fears passed down.. step into who God has made you…

David… Can you smell it? can you taste it…?
its the sweet smell of victory, the beautiful sight of the future, and your victorious… its the sense and feeling of stepping into to something much greater than yourself…

I can talk to you and tell you all day long about who you are and what God has called you to be, you can train and develop and prepare, but the only thing that now separates you from the greatness thats inside of you is one single step!

David…are you ready?
Quick, up, and run! run to the giant, run to those who hold captive this generation that God has called you to free! step up and into the fullness of your purpose!

Remember a while back? dont you remember the oil that I poured on your head? dont you recall the word and the prophecy and the calling that you received… well now is the time, now is the moment to step up and into that reality, and into the purpose!

David…are you willing?

One request… please, for the love of God “dont withhold your voice!!!”
…to think it wont matter would be a devastating assumption.
…to say someone else will say something, would be the cowards path
…to sit back and watch would be the greatest waste of your greatness
…to do nothing would be devastating…

David, look at me… see i knew you were out there, I knew that you felt deeply about what Im saying, and that at the core of you, this would thrash your conscience!

David, its time to be who you are!

Take Your Stand…

As the story of David’s 3 mighty men are being told in 2 Samuel, you see a pattern. The enemy is coming, the “crowd” gets scared and runs, one of these mighty men stays and “takes their stand” and it says the Lord brought a great victory.

2 Samuel 23:12 But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the Lord brought about a great victory.

The key, even if the odds are against you, trust God, stay strong, take your stand and watch how God works a victory in your life!

Only those who stay strong and take their stand in the face of adversity get to taste victory.

….now, TAKE YOUR STAND

Are you a KILLER?

Before you claim innocence of murder, lets probe the question further.

Have you ever participated in “KILLING TIME”?

I would say one of the most devastating things that someone can do is to throw away this precious gift we have called “TIME”.

Now I know you may think that Im being a bit to intense or maybe dramatic about the whole thing. And your asking me “Cant I just have some time to relax and chill?” The answer is yes. This blog isn’t about never relaxing or having down time. But I do want to raise awareness for us to stop killing time.

Its to easy to waste our lives away, one moment or one day at a time.

Have you ever woke up at the end of the week and thought, man, what did I do this week? or Where did the time go? Or even woke up at the end of Year and thought that?

If the answer is yes, than you may be a KILLER?

Will you be put behind a physical prison to serve your time, no but the crime of wasted time is real and will put you in a negative prison of sorts that dooms you to a meaningless existence.

Ok, so you get the point, here are some tips to help us not kill time but use it:

1. Plan your time // If you dont have a plan, you’ll guarantee to waste your time. Take time weekly & daily to plan your time.

2. Be intentional with your time // choose to invest your time(life) into the things that matter. Like the central call to all of us as Jesus followers is to build the church. Have we invested intentional time into sharing our faith with those around us and/or serving at our local church?

3. Seize your time! // This is your time, so much unneeded killing of time happens because we DELAY our use of it. Use it or lose it!

Time as an expiration date on it

Parenting Challenge from 1 Samuel 1:28… (What are we giving our kids to?)

In 1 Samuel 1:28, Im challenged as a Parent by the statement that comes from Hannah. (the mother of Samuel the prophet)

When she receive the gift of a baby boy, she makes this powerful statement:

1 Samuel 1:28 So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.”

Each version uses some different words for the word “give” in the verse above. Some translations use the word “commit” or “dedicate”.

So the question I felt, or the challenge I felt after reading this verse, is what am I committing my daughter to? What have I dedicated my child to? and what will I give my child’s life to?

Will I dedicate her life to the pursuits and passions that are common to the society that we live in? Will I give her life to sports/education/people/beauty/fame/money/art??

Or will I & my wife like Hannah make the conscience choice to dedicate and give my daughter to the serve the kingdom of God? And not just for a once a week deal or a monthly event, but like Hannah says “for her whole life”.

Lets choose to commit our kids lives to the building of the Church!

Do you measure up?

Galatians 6:14(MSG) For my part, I am going to boast about nothing but the Cross of our Master, Jesus Christ. Because of that Cross, I have been crucified in relation to the world, set free from the stifling atmosphere of pleasing others and fitting into the little patterns that they dictate.

I think that verse basically speaks for itself. We waste precious time when we spin our wheels trying to compare and compete with others. You are specifically and intentionally created and designed by God. Spend your time and energy focusing on honoring and pleasing God.

Live to please God not man.

I’ve been inspired to talk a bit about the staff/team culture at Champions Centre by one of my fellow staff members at Champions Centre: the legendary Brandon Stewart. (check out his blog for other great leadership posts: http://brandonmstewart.tumblr.com/)

Two things inspired me to write this post:
1. Some of Brandon’s blogs on our “collaborative Culture”
2. & an article I came across yesterday titled “Why you can’t skimp on Rehearsals”

The basic gist of the article is a call to leaders and communicators to take the time to “Rehearse” before you communicate your message or information, whether that be to a large or small group.  This is such an important key to effectively communicating your message that we implement this in many facets of our church staff.

Before we as a church launch any new initiative or ministry or campaign or training or almost anything, we take the time to do what we call a “Presenters Lab”.

A Presenters Lab is where we do a mock presentation of the new information/material and as close to possible replecation of the experiecen that the audience will have.
The presentation is given in front of a group of the staff and possibly a select group of others.

Keys to a Successful Presenters Lab:

  1. Presenter: Prepare & Present Like its the real thing
    • If you don’t go game-time you’re wasting your time.
    • Create the full experience for the attendee
  2. Attendee: Be fully engaged in the presentation to give helpful feedback.
  3. Attendee: Needs to give open and honest feedback for it to actually be helpful.
  4. Presenter: Create an open atmosphere for constructive input into the presentation and don’t get defensive when your presentation is getting evaluated.(aka Ripped to shreds)
  5. Presenter: Don’t ignore the input. Take the feedback to heart and make the necessary changes,

I’ve seen the huge possitive effects on many areas of our church and our Leadership College (WFL). If you take the time to do Presenters Labs it will take your effectiveness to whole-notha level!

Any questions on Presenters Labs hit me or Brandon up…

Have a good one!
